New Years Resolution - Number One

Yesterday I met up with my 'sensible' friend. We had lunch and then she declared she was off to Zara to buy some boots. She was incredibly excited because she hadn’t bought anything new for 6 weeks. I commented that 6 weeks without shopping was an amazing achievement. She then said that after blowing £2000 at Topshop in 3 months, she was on a strict shopping regime where she is only allowed one new item of clothing every 6 weeks.

That is amazing right? I don’t know about other people but I am so hopeless at putting myself on shopping bans. I tend to eat baked beans or peanut butter sandwiches for a week so that I can spend all of my spare cash on clothes.

I was inspired by her and I am going to take on a similar New Years resolution. Not too sure what form it will take but it will involve cutting back on my clothing allowance and putting my money aside for more sensible things - like into my savings account.

So on that note – I just bought a really cute tee-shirt in the Urban Outfitters sale. I really love it… I did say that I would start being sensible in the New Year after all.

Here is a picture of my new tee-shirt worn by some cute red head on the UO website. Keep posted for some pictures of me sporting it!

Call of the Wild

I find animal print quite timeless. Year after year, I happily dig out my leopard print scarves, gloves, belts and shoes and I never feel unfashionable. I wonder if metallic or studs will last the test of time? Probably not but they are fun for the time being.

Leopard print accessories always top my wish list. I have also been lusting after two pairs of shoes for a while now.

Ashish leopard print shoes

Emma Cook zebra print wedges.

I cannot decide which pair I want more… The Emma Cook shoes are really comfortable however I would be really tall in the Ashish leopard print sweeties. Hmmmm.

I think Whitney Port and Rihanna look really awesome in their leopard shoes. However not too sure about the rest of Whitney’s outfit. Leather shorts in an awkward cut? Is she heading off to Oktoberfest? Dear, dear Whitney.

I adore Miranda Kerr’s leopard print mini skirt. I think this outfit is pretty perfect. She looks really elegant yet trendy at the same time.

So after dissing Leighton last week I decided to give her some credit for keeping things stylish yet simple in this gorgeous leopard print scarf and black trench coat ensemble. I really do love Leighton. She is my favourite of the Gossip Girl girls.

Olivia Palermo is also keeping it simple and stylish by spicing up this black dress with a really cute leopard print belt. She is a stylish and pretty girl but man I hate her in the City.

Little Miss Grumpy

It has been a funny past couple of days and I have been left in the strangest mood today.

I went out shopping on Saturday with a friend who was visiting London and we got absolutely drenched. I really hate getting wet when I am out and about. I felt miserable and cold for the rest of the day. What is with this stormy weather?

Sunday was spent hiding indoors and watching the entire first season of the City. I really don’t know why I am so addicted to that show. I think it is Erin… She seems really cool and has awesome clothes. Anyway, when Sunday evening had rolled around and I hadn’t moved from the couch, I felt slightly lazy and guilty.

This morning the rain was still falling and my day got off to a rough start after my computer got a virus. I have been forced to spend my day working on a dust covered desk which is also covered in stale cake crumbs. It hasn’t left me in the best of moods because I think I have lost 2 years worth of work emails. Oh dear.

On a different note - I wanted to post some pictures of outfits from the weekend. This is me on Saturday before shopping (note the dry hair).

These pictures are from Sunday evening. I recently got a new jacket and dress from Urban Outfitters and I totally love them. The jacket is really light and has big floppy pockets. The dress is really short so it has to be worn with footless tights. It is so soft and comfortable. I don’t think these pictures do them any justice though. I look a bit orange really!

Hope you are all having better days then me!

Putting on the Ritz...

It seems that everywhere I look at the moment, clothing, shoes and accessories are all covered in sequins. My inner pirate maiden does love a bit of glitter so I cannot resist this trend. Let’s face it – who feels glum when wearing something glitzy and glam? Not me!

I was looking at pictures of celebrities wearing sequin embezzled clothing on the Elle website. I think Carey Mulligan looks amazing in her head to toe sequined dress (and I am so in love with her at the moment anyway. She could wear a potato sack and I would still be raving).

Chloe Sevigny looks amazing as always in her Miu Miu ensemble (who else could wear that outfit?)

Christina Ricci plays it safe with a simple diamante brooch. I had to include this picture because she looks so classy and her makeup is pretty great as well.

Eva Mendes looks stunning in her glam sequined number. She is such a hot lady!

I now feel inspired to head out shopping and buy this cute sequinned bag from Urban Outfitters and this gorgeous sequinned rose coloured shrug from Topshop. They are both just so pretty!

Plastic Fantastic!

At the moment I am really digging a band called the Plastiscines. Let's face it - they are stylish French gals who play pop-rock. What is not to love? They are truly perfect.

I cannot wait for them to play a gig in London. I have such a girl crush!

Could these girls get any cooler? Sigh...

Tell me why? I don't like Wednesdays...

It has been a horrible day... I woke up this morning and my right ear was blocked. I have been deaf for the entire day. I feel like a Nana. I keep saying 'what?', 'who?', 'sorry - can you repeat that?' It is so frustrating! People at work have stopped speaking to me because I yell my responses at them. I am spending my evening at the Doctors surgery. Doh!

I am also really disappointed to see pictures of Leighton Meester at the opening of the new American Eagle Outfitters flagship store where she performed her new single.

I love Leighton because she always looks super glam and polished. I really don't understand her outfit choice here. She looks like Lady Gaga gone wrong (and that is saying something!)

Does it look like she has had a horrible accident in those leggings to anyone else?

Dog Day Afternoon

I am madly in love with pugs and French bulldogs. Their bug eyes and funny little ears are just so adorable. I was hunting around on Etsy for some Xmas pressies and came across these amazing photos by Christine Edwards of pooches wearing ties and bowties. They are so hilarious I couldn’t resist making a post about them. The pug photos are my favourites.

Hope you enjoy!

Gypsy Fortune Teller

Last night the weather in London was so icky. It was grey, miserable, damp and the rain just wouldn’t stop pelting down. I really wanted to spend the evening indoors cuddled up in my jim-jams watching Grey’s Anatomy and the Hills, however I forced myself out into the wet and dreary weather.

I met up with the girlies for dinner, gossip and drinks on the Thames. I decided to wear biker boots, my new black bodycon skirt (note - sitting down or eating are not beneficial when wearing this skirt), a black cami and my lace waistcoat got another outing (and there was me thinking I would never wear the thing!) I have decided that if I wear my lace waistcoat with loads of necklaces I feel like a gypsy fortune teller. I don't see that as a bad thing though.

I am off to grab a coffee and see An Education soon. Hope you are all having lovely weekend’s xoxo

Kyoto Gardens

I was tidying up my hard drive (jeez my life is thrilling – I cannot believe I started a sentence like that!) and I found some pictures from my birthday which I wanted to post. My birthday is in May, so these pictures are from quite a while ago. I spent the day eating cupcakes and wandering around Holland Park. There are these gorgeous Japanese Gardens (the Kyoto Gardens) in Holland Park. They are so pretty and tranquil.

It is miserable and rainy in London today and I would like to be magically transported back to May where the weather was gorgeous, I could wear pretty sundresses and my weekends could be spent wandering around the beautiful Kyoto Gardens (instead of locked indoors watching Grey’s Anatomy season 3). Sigh.

There is also this great sculpture of a turtle in Holland Park. Turtles are one of my favourite animals so I totally love this picture!

The Flaming Lips

The Flaming Lips are one of the best live acts I have ever seen. They are like watching a decadent children’s birthday party. Balloons, streamers, people dressed up in animal suits (or in last nights case – yetis), puppets, confetti, giant hands, lead singers running around on top of the crowd in bubbles, video projections and elaborate back-drops. There is no room for boredom during a Flaming Lips show. They are so wacky and wonderful, one is mesmerised at all times.

I also really love their music. Wayne Coyne has an incredible voice and although their live performances are fun-filled, their songs are really heartfelt and a tad melancholy at times (I get a lump in my throat every time I hear ‘do you realise?’)

Last nights Flaming Lips gig was really amazing. I had such a great night – I came away feeling all happy, loved up and euphoric. Sorry my gig pictures turned out a bit blurred (why does my camera do that every time I take pictures at gigs?) There is really no way to capture the awesomeness that is the Flaming Lips.

For the gig I decided to channel my inner Stevie Nicks. I bought a black lace waistcoat a few days ago from Topshop which I decided to wear with a black mini skirt and my howling wolf tee-shirt. This outfit makes me feel a bit like a gothic hippy. I felt a bit out of place at the Troxy though (the gig venue). It is an old bingo hall painted in a pastel palette with tacky Art Deco fittings.
